A short introduction to the MONGOLIAN FISHMONGERS - what
they've done and who they are ... |
The Mongolian Fishmongers are a six piece band
that incorporates an eclectic array of musical styles creating an inspiring
unique Celtic style as well as independent originals that only experience
can describe. Since forming in March 1997 they have released an independent
C.D. and performed at weddings, pubs, parties, festivals, protests and
benefit gigs. The Mongolian Fishmongers have all had experience in several
other bands. |

The fishy culprits : |
- Mr. Monk (singer/ songwriter/ guitarist) the family man whose fresh
face belies the whiskey in his voice and whose legs in a kilt have seen
the band through some hairy situations ... |
- Mr. Brown (singer/ songwriter/ guitarist) lashes out vocally with
snippets of Shane McGowan, The Dubliners and the Clash, bachelorising his
way to a life long affair with tobacco, porter and gin.
- Matiss Schubert (fiddle/ tunesmith) is well known in folk circles
the winner of the National Celtic Festival 1996 'Fiddler of Dooney' competition.
Matiss is a bonafide Fiddle Maniac after performing alongside seven other
fiddle wizards (including John McCusker - Battlefield Band) in the Fiddle
Mania concert at the National Celtic Festival, 1998.
- Adam Burke (electric bass) and irrepressible front-man is a throwback
to the days of disco, flares and big, big sideburns. An accomplished
jazz musician and funky bass player, he adds real grove to the traditional
and original songs and tunes of the Fishmongers.
- Daniella Rocca (accordion/ whistle/ tunesmith) is another jazz musician
who has converted to quirky Fishmonger folk and regular accompanist to
Tiffany Eckhardt (singer/ songwriter). She is respected in her own
right for winning the Tim Whelan Tune Writing award at Port Fairy 1998. |
- J.P. (percussion) is the man behind beat, behind the drums, behind
the drink on the bar ...a familiar face from Dave Steele`s band 'The Green
Room'.
